Gremlins

The princess is currently parked at my sisters as i have a ongoing parking area upgrade . Her husband went to start it up today and it has failed to start, that is not turn over, it seems the feed to the starter solonoid is breaking down, 12 volts when disconnected but no this drops to virtually not...

It's insurance time again, who are everyone using, i have more than one car on my policy so does anyone else ? my current insurer is offering a good price but it's bumped up by their broker fees etc .....

My 1976 HLS has the 4 bulb tail lights, it confuddled the MOT tester one year as it lights the rear reflector

My understanding is that when the "new" regulations came in with the new font in 2001 anything before that it's ok to fit them

I have had my fuel tank refurbished here, https://www.arrowrad.co.uk/ it had a leak along the seam they have used something like por 15 on it, i have yet to refit it but they assure me it will not leak.

1had 4 dipped lamps on a mk1 scirocco years ago it was never a problem, the lights where woefull on that as well.

Heat Shield

I would like to replace the heat shield over the exhaust manifold on the 2200 HLS does anyone have a picture of how it looks ? I assuming it's not available to replace, mine had a tiny corner left so no use as a pattern

The Rubber seal for the temp sender for the cooling fan is weaping coolant any ideas on where to get one please (1976 2200 HLS)

My Condenser failed Tuesday, luckily I had another in the car, result, I have brought an electronic ignition kit from powerspark fitted in 20mins and i'm told they are very reliable, we will wait and see, the old points etc are in the boot just in case. the kit only replaces the points and condenser...

Did you put a thin smear of copper grease on the back of the wheel/face of the hub when you put it back on? That'll stop it sticking. Suppose the gaiter advisory was a blessing in disguise really, imagine if you got a flat and needed to get the wheel off at the side of the road! You shouldn't use c...

I had a leak like this on mine, it turned out to be the fuel pipe were it connected to the carb.it was intermittent, can only think when the needle valve closed the pressure built up. I want to make a shield up, so if it happened again it wouldn't drop straight on the exhaust.

Ah, so that won't fit then, chap has one and wasn't sure what it fitted. he does have a few maxi spares including new rear lights if anyone knows someone who would need / like them

I think it needs to be a "flat" colour, these paints that change colour the way you look at them are a nightmare to match should you get a scratch
