Re: Engine mounts

It is quite impossible to see if there is one or two units, as it is partly hidden behind the crankshaft pulley. When I bought my car, the counter showed 94000 km (probably 194000 km), so the original setup seems to have worked.

Re: Engine mounts

You can measure the fixed gear change rod: Measure the length from the middle of the hole in the fork end to where the rod enters the housing. If it is 715mm it is the original version, if it is 689mm it is the new version. It seem that the engine was moved exactly one inch.

Re: Engine mounts

According to my microfiche from 1980 11H5738 is the bracket for the rubber mounting. This was not changed. What was changed were the big brackets bolted to the engine. The part numbers for these are (for manual): RH front 11H5700, RH rear 11H5703, LH front 11H5706, and LH rear 11H5709. There are no ...

While you have access to the heater box, I suggest you have a look at the "otter switch". It is probably not working. It is a safety switch in case the fan is not working. If the switch is not working, the fan will only run at highest speed. You may of course know this already.

I would go for the black dash, which I think looks good. Also a shiny dash may reflect in the windscreen. If you go for the painted one, I hope you have more luck than I. I painted mine black with vinyl spray paint, but the sun has caused the paint to crack.

I suppose, you are sure, the floats are not punctured? I think the Burlen comments are for HS6 carburettors, as the mention a lid on the float chamber, and there is an air vent in the lid. If you are sure, the needle valves close, I can only think of too high fuel pressure. Although it may not be of...
