Re: A500KWK

This seems to be a recurring problem on the later (HIF44?) carbs. My Allegro has started doing it and it is not as easy to remove the float chamber top like the earlier ones. Likely to be a float issue rather than dried out seals.

Re: Introduction - Another Newbie

Just an update with my wheeltrims. Quite like the black and beige contrast.

Re: Ambassador for breaking

What is the interior colour?
I am looking for the plastic covers that go over the seatbelts on the "B" post. Mine have been chittled by mice in a previous life. Mine are Paprika.

Ambassadors on Radio or TV

New John Shuttleworth program on R4 "Visiting Time" mentions putting a parking ticket on his Ambassador.

Any other references to the mark appreciated...

Re: Ambassador brewing up

My Ambassador got a bit hot in traffic the other week. Didn't hear fan kicking in. On investigation, I have found the lead off the temperature switch on the radiator and shorted out with a loop - normally to make fan run all the time. I checked the fan with a direct feed and it runs, so not getting ...

Re: Petrol Tank Sender Unit Rubber

Fitted and after a scare of it leaking, it's sealing OK. Put 2 gallons in -no leak. put other 4 in and I thought there was a weep. Left it overnight and its holding.

Re: Petrol Tank Sender Unit Rubber

Took the seal out yesterday. It was very perished, soggy, and brittle. It does look like a Mini one so I have ordered a replacement. Strange pipe set up on the sender. Looks like it has had a "repair" in the past.

Petrol Tank Sender Unit Rubber

Is it the same as a Mini one? The car has developed a leak from the sender unit and it looks the same size as Mini ones?

Must post some pics from underneath as it is like new. Drained all I could out but have released ring and will fully remove tomorrow when drips stop.

Courtesy Light

I was investigating why the light does no come on when I open the drivers door... Passenger door opens, light comes on. Drivers didn't. Took switch out from the "A" post and whats left of the wire came out with it. Looks like it had been snipped off! So to rewire it, where does the courtesy switch w...

Re: Introduction - Another Newbie

Wiper fixed - loose.
Carb rebuilt and sorted.
Oil light worrying lit up frequently during the test runs, but a new sender switch seems to have cured that. Had the same issue with my Allegro.
Only comes on when cornering hard to the left now.

Re: Introduction - Another Newbie

I've ordered a rebuild kit but will look out for a spare carb. Might have one on a mini manifold somewhere...

Yes it's single carb manual choke so I might be able to sort. OS Windscreen wiper has just stopped moving! Oh the joys of recommissioning.

Introduction - Another Newbie

Hi. Just had my latest Beige BL classic delivered. 1.7 HL Ambassador. Got it on a second chance bid when buyer didn't... http://leylandprincess.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=1438 Really solid all round but a carb issue. Anyone got a spare so I can rebuild the original at leisure. Someth...
