Re: Speedo Cables

I have tracked the down the one on e-bay to a company in Southampton called Partsland Classic. They are checking for me and say they have all the info on British Leyland. Watch this space. Mine is a 2200 P2 auto.

Re: Speedo Cables

Anyone know where I can get a speedo cable for my series 2 2200 auto? There is one on e-bay but it is for manual. Are they compatible?

Re: Radiator fan

Thought I would have to take the radiator out to get at the radiator fan wiring but then realised I could unscrew the radiator grill. Made the job easy.

Radiator fan

My Wedge has 2 radiator fans but only one is wired in. There is no sign of a connector for it in the harness. Is this normal? I think I need the other one working as I got stuck in a traffic jam on a very hot day and came close to overheating. Anyone know where I can find the special connectors?

Re: Alternator drive belt

I now have a new alternator belt but it was quite a story. I found a company on the web who seemed to know what belt I needed so I ordered one. However it arrived it was slightly too short and I could not get it on. The company, doctorcarparts.com were helpful and asked me to measure the existing be...

Re: Front suspension squeak

On reflection I think I can either replace the displacer unit or put up with the squeak. As I don't have the kit to pump up the hydraulics I will put up with the squeak for the moment. If I decide to replace it then I have to get a replacement unit from Ian and borrow some kit. I may take up Martin'...

Re: Front suspension squeak

Thanks for all your help. I have spoken to Ian Kennedy and he thinks I need to add glycerin to the fluid.
I have plenty to think about. Can't do anything this weekend because of the weather.

Re: Front suspension squeak

That's what I thought. The units have been re gassed. My wedge is an auto and the book says the alternator has to come off to get at the pivot for the upper arm. I can see the nut in the engine compartment but how do I get at the other end? I have to let the fluid out I suppose. And it remains to be...

Front suspension squeak

I have been have trouble with the front near side suspension. It has been sagging in that quarter and I assumed there was a leak in the suspension. There is also a very annoying squeak from that side. Having found someone with the kit to pump it up I asked them to look for leaks and the squeak. They...

Re: Light bulb for auto gear selector

Hi Guys, You have been very helpful. I got eventually got at the light bulbs under the gear selector lever. It was still tricky once I got the cover off. I put some new light bulbs in the sockets and the rear one comes on when the driving lights are switched on but the other one which slides back an...

Re: Light bulb for auto gear selector

Hello Kev, I eventually got the centre console apart once I had worked out how the blanking plate worked. However I cannot see how to get the escutcheon that surrounds the gear lever off. You said in your post that it just lifts off, but mine is very firmly attached and I can't see any fixings. Anot...

Light bulb for auto gear selector

It was good to meet you all at the show and it was a very good show. I did discuss the light for the gear selector but I can't work out how to remove the selector cover. I think I need to remove the cover over the seat belt anchor first but there is no obvious fixing. Just it just pop off? If I can ...

Re: Front displacers

Thanks for your help guys. Having worked out how to do it and considering the lack of space in my garage I have booked it in to Ian and Dawn in Telford to have it done for me. They seem very reasonable.

Front displacers

Hi.
How do I reach the front displacers on my princess? Front offside suspension has collapsed but I can't see any fluid leak.
The metalwork in the engine compartment above the displacers seems to be welded in place and I cannot see anything from underneath.
The manual is no help. Dave.

The proper name is ball pins according to the manual but I mean the top and bottom ball joints that move when you turn the steering.

Re: Speedo Cables

I took the dashboard out to search for the indicator flasher unit, now I am having trouble getting the speedo drive to work. With the dash panel back in place I can reach the connector on the back of the speedo but can't seem to get the square inner cable to pick up. Any suggestions?

Re: engine problems

I have checked the timing with a strobe light and can see it advancing. I have moved the distributor to make it run the best. I thought the vacuum device came in to effect when you take your foot off the throttle to slow down.

engine problems

Hi all, Having recently purchased a princess 2200 auto I have a few problems I need help with as it is not running too well. Was this engine (1980) made to run on unleaded petrol or should have been converted? Are the nuts and threads imperial or otherwise? The distributor advances the spark with th...
