No Jeff you are incorrect with the rear one. You are quoting an oil seal for a manual (14 on the picture in the catalogue). The automatic one is as I stated in my post below(18 in the catalogue picture).

SMG has got a rear aerial & I didn’t spot that! I agree with Princess1800s, it’s no big deal to drill post painting. A bit of tape first to stop the drill slipping (as he says) and Bob’s your uncle. Repaint the edges and some Waxoyl will prevent rusting.

Wow. Brilliant. That's the business. Now the fun bit starts. SMG also had wing repeater flashers fitted and I came to the same conclusion that they are a useful safety feature, much like the rear safety belts also fitted, although I suppose purists won't like them.

No Tony. On the 2200 the heat shield is a silvery fibrous material that protects the alternator from the heat of the exhaust manifold which it bolts onto. Nothing to do with intake ventilation pipes on the e series.

The part number is 13H8310. Ebay has this which it says is equivalent to that part number. Up to you whether you take a punt! I haven't had to re-black the bottom of the windscreen so have no personal experience. I know of some who have done this by spraying in situ although not sure what sort of primer they used and others have used vinyl which sounds near impossible in situ to me!

Thanks for the input Derek. That's why I'm changing the oil pressure sender just in case. The wiring relies on oil pressure (except when the starter is turning) otherwise it turns off the fuel pump to save the engine. A bit too clever for it's own good IMO! It my be an urban myth but I understand Triplex (or is it Pilkington!) have all their old templates and can make up authentic replacements to order. No idea how much they charge though. It doesn't sound a cheap process.

Toughened screens are heat tempered which makes the glass stronger and more resistant to damage but if subjected to stone hits etc of sufficient force they will craze over completely (not just where the stone has hit) reducing vision to near zero which is sub-optimal. The float chamber vent on the HIF6 carbs is the overflow outlet. Yours are obviously not blocked!

I had a similar problem some time ago. I also changed floats, needle valves and seats and it still flooded. I didn't check the fuel pump pressure (I'd also fitted new fuel pump) but sorted it by putting a (variably) pressure reducing valve in the fuel line. I have since removed that without a re-occ...

Interesting variation of colours. Out of that lot I would undoubtedly go for Nightfire even though Black does really suit the shape. As our tastes are so poles apart that's obviously 2 you can cross off your list....

Your brakes look really smart. You should notice an enormous improvement in the ride when you get round to re-gassing the displacers. SMG was enormously improved when they were re-gassed although it still doesn't have the same absorbent ride as KWacKers.
